This little clip
is on your side

It isn't here to boss you around, and it isn't your parents watching you. Here's the whole thing.

It has no camera and no microphone. It can't take pictures or record sound. It has no idea what you're looking at or who you're talking to. It knows three things: how close the thing in front of you is, how bright the room is, and whether you're moving.

What it does

When you're reading, doing homework or on a tablet, it gives a little buzz if you get too close, if the light is too dim, or if you've had your head down for a long time. It's a nudge to sit up, move things back, or look out the window for a bit.

1 buzzYou've been at it a while — look far away and take a break

Eating, walking, riding in the car, watching TV — it stays quiet. No buzz.

You're helping build it

Honestly? It isn't very clever yet. Sometimes it buzzes when it shouldn't — you're eating dinner and it thinks you're doing homework.

That's why the app asks your parents "what were they just doing?". Every answer makes it a bit smarter. You're one of the first 50 kids to wear one, so the one you're wearing decides how good the one every other kid gets will be.

A few small things

It isn't waterproof. Take it off for baths and swimming.

Don't open it up. There's a battery inside. If it gets dropped, cracked or wet, just tell a grown-up — you're not in trouble.

The magnets are strong — never put them in your mouth, and keep them away from smaller kids.

Leave it home from school for now. These are handmade and there are only a few of them.

Most important: if it ever feels uncomfortable, or you just don't want to wear it, take it off any time. Tell your mum or dad — no reason needed, and nobody will mind.
